It wasn’t all smooth sailing; Portuguese explorers Bartolomeu Dias and Vasco da Gama battled treacherous seas and devastating winds to round the promontory as they attempted to reach India. We’ll follow their trail as they battled the elements, got lost in open ocean and traded shells, bells, arrows and bullets with local tribes.
