Cape Point Funicular Temporarily Out Of Service for Essential Upgrades and Maintenance

There will be a temporary suspension of the Cape Point funicular service for the next four to five weeks to facilitate critical upgrades and routine maintenance. This planned downtime is necessary to enhance the reliability of the service. The funicular will undergo comprehensive upgrades to its communication systems, alongside scheduled maintenance tasks. These improvements are part of our ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest standards of service and safety for our passengers.

Key Details of the Suspension:

Duration: June 27, 2024, to approximately August 1, 2024

Scope of Work: Upgrading of our technical system and general maintenance including overall enhancement of the funicular operation.

Impact: Temporary closure of the funicular operation – Alternative access to Cape Point will remain available.

Alternative Arrangements for Visitors:

During this period, a shuttle service will be available. Please note, however, that this will have limited capacity and be subject to availability. The cost of this service will be available on site.    Hiking trails will remain open and clearly signposted to ensure smooth and convenient access to the scenic viewpoint and attractions. We encourage visitors to take advantage of these options and continue enjoying the natural beauty and rich history that Cape Point offers.
