The Chrysalis Academy is a youth development academy that has empowered many of its students for the past 19 years. Their programs run for three months for youth aged 18 – 25 from across the Western Cape. Not only are they a development organization but it’s also a social crime prevention initiative, empowering young people to take responsibility for their personal growth.
“Results from the students who have attended the academy include personal mastery, greater resilience, an enhanced skill set and access to a range of further learning opportunities including a 12-month work placement to acquire work experience. The three-month programs cover life skills, time spent in the outdoors, vocational and work readiness training plus therapeutic care aimed at supporting youth at a psychosocial level.”
Close to the end of their three-month stay, students take part in a symbolic 3-day hike from Tokai to Cape Point. Regardless of the weather, 200 students partake in the hike each time. We applaud the Chrysalis Academy for their outstanding work in the community and wish their amazing students well!
